Will You be Prepared When The Comes?

Waiting on the bus

By: Laymond Meredith

Watching a service on TV I was quite astonished to hear the preacher say, “I know when I die I will go to heaven, I’m just waiting on the bus” I have learned since then that is the attitude of many in the church “I have worked a long time for the privilege, and I deserve a rest, I will just sit here on the bench in the sunshine until the bus comes to take me home” I believe many may go to sleep while sitting in the warm sun on that bench only to be awaken by the shouts of others “Wakeup, wakeup you just missed the bus”

Rv:3:16: So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. When we become so convinced and lackadaisical about out own salvation we might fit that description lukewarm. I sort of understand that attitude from the very elderly, even though we are told to work until the very end, I believe as long as we are able in any capacity we are told to work for the Lord. But some in the church today seem to think retirement is readily available as soon as they become a member. I am not entirely blameless myself I too catch a little dose of spring fever and get to comfortable in my walk with Jesus, and sit down on that bus depot bench day dreaming about fishing, when I should be out fishing for souls. Mt:4:19: And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. I have many excuses not to get up off that bench.” well I worked extra hard last week, or That arthritis is sure bad in my knees and fingers, or maybe it is just “I sure am tired” then I get to thinking about later on when we will have plenty of time to rest, and the arthritis will be gone, I sure don’t want to miss that bus. Rv:21:4: And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.. And besides he did not say follow me to the nearest bench and sit down.

As you become more informed and therefore more capable of doing Gods work to help those who are in need of what you have, that is no time to become lackadaisical in your work. I agree we should be waiting for the bus, with great anticipation but we should work hard to reserve a seat for others. We can wait and work at the same time.(If I can be of any help to you, please email me at JRay4Tn@aol.com).
